I worked with local artist Mark Kelly. The project was a mural painted onto the cable wall of the Kilkee sub aqua club, clubhouse. The LAWPRO Community Water Development Fund funded it.KSAC is the local scuba diving club in Kilkee. Two local artists, Jackie McGrath and Mark Kelly, collaborated on an art project with KSAC., This project was funded by LAWPRO (Local Authority Water Programme ). Through catchment science and community engagement, this organisation endeavors to protect and restore good water quality in our rivers, lakes, estuaries, ground and coastal waters. This funding is the LAWPRO catchment support fund, which aims to build the capacity of non-governmental organisations working in the area of water quality in Ireland. Jackie is a scuba diver, and Mark has lived beside the ocean all of his life. They collaborated on a mural on the side of the KSAC clubhouse, with the idea being to showcase our beautiful coastal waters and the wildlife within it . The incredible basking sharks is just one of the features on the mural.
Jackie says, “ With my socially engaged art practice, I am showing how important it is to protect our waterways and oceans for future generations.
